The Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed Tuesday, August 29th, at the Mustang Invite. Thunderstorms delayed the start of the races, held at Cass Benton on Hines Drive in Northville. When the Varsity girls race finally went off, 169 runners from Division 1 through 4 schools took off on the wet, muddy course. Sienna Ruiter-Diaz continued her stellar running from last year, finishing 15th overall with a time of 21:10, and receiving a medal. The Freshmen sensations (Nicole and Sarah Reinhart, and Emily Cameron) all performed well for their first official high school race. Joy Chamberlain, Eva Warmbier, Isabel Mossel and Ella Godin also ran extremely well despite some difficult weather conditions.
On the boys’ side, 258 runners from Division 1 through 4 maneuvered through muddy and slick trails. Leading the way for PCA was newcomer Junior Luke Pohl, whose 17:09 time earned him a top 10 medal. Also receiving a medal was Seth Windle, out kicking on the final 100 meters to pass several runners to place 25th overall with a time of 17:51. Hunter Torolski, Quinn McLaren, Nathan Sutrick, Eric Moore and Caleb Godin all ran extremely well.
Next up for the Eagles is the Bath Invitational on September 9th in Bath, Michigan.
