The Dearborn Pioneers managed to dodge enough raindrops to best Plymouth Christian Academy, 5-3 in a dual tennis match played today in Dearborn.
Dearborn earned points with straight set wins at #1, #2 and #3 Singles as well as #1 and #4 Doubles.
PCA was led by Allie Kwang at #4 Singles who downed Sean Murray 6-0, 6-3.
The Eagles got doubles points at #3, with Evan Wright and Chris Bilko who won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The final match of the day was at #2 Doubles , where Rachel Costello and Gloria Ravuri rallied to win the third set of their match, 6-3. The team had a lead in the second set, but the Dearborn pair of Cole Wisneski and Harrison Kubicki fought back to win the set, 7-5. The Eagles had taken the opening set, 6-4.
With both teams watching and urging on their teammates, the PCA duo finally surged ahead to take the set and the match.
Both teams competed and displayed good sportsmanship. PCA Co-Coach, Jim Zandee, “Their (Dearborn’s) coaches commented on our great sportsmanship and character. That’s a BIG win in my book.”
