As the Fall season closed out a couple of weeks ago with an incredible State Championship performance from our Volleyball team. I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the performances of all of our athletes and coaches. We had so many student-athletes as well as our coaches put so much work in during the summer months and through out the season and that work was rewarded in a number of ways.
It was a success right away for our Cross Country program as we filled out first ever girls program in school history with 9 total athletes. Those girls did not stop there, going on and winning the MIAC Conference title as well as qualifying for the MHSAA State meet as a team. They finished 14th overall at the meet.
The Boys Cross Country was just as impressive, also winning the MIAC Conference title and qualifying for the MHSAA State meet. They were able to finish in the top 10 and 9th place over all. The best finish in program history!
The success of the Volleyball team was obviously another amazing moment for our athletic program. They faced so many tough opponents during their run and finished their season as Champions! They were honored with that title in a number of ways:
-Class C/D Tournament Champs
-MIAC Conference Champions
PCA Coaches Honored
I want to take a moment to congratulate all of our coaches on their team success this year! Rod Windle, who coached our Girls and Boys Cross Country teams and DJ Kellogg, our Volleyball coach, were each named MIAC Conference Coach of the Year! This award was voted on by the leagues coaches. I am glad to work with them both and see them commit so much time and effort into our athletes.
Thank you to Mike Kwaang who has coached our Tennis team for a number of years. With his youngest daughter Allie graduating, he will be stepping down as the coach. Our program has grown tremendously with Mike at the helm and he will be leaving a strong program in his successors hands.
