– Justin Parks, Matt Pierce, Daniel Krivacs and Rachel Costello all earned straight-set wins to pace PCA to a 6-1 win over Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central Thursday afternoon in a tennis match played at Munson Park.
The first official dual match for the Academy was played in bright sunshine and the Eagles wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard first. 3 singles player Daniel Krivacs won 6-2, 6-1 for the first point. Matt Pierce won at 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
#1 player, Justin Parks got a scare in the second set, but fended off his SMCC opponent, 6-3, 7-5. The doubles team of Caleb Cameron and Tim Perumalla continued their fine play with a straight -set, 6-3, 6-2 win at #2 dubs. Rachel Costello won her match 8-4. The #4 singles match was deemed an exhibition due to the low player turnout at SMCC. Currently, they have only seven players on their roster.
Also playing this evening were Stephen Miera and Chris Bilko who had their winning streak snapped at #1 Doubles, 3-6 2-6 and #4 Doubles Rebecca Nokku and Evan Fischer, who lost their match but put up a great fight.
The Eagles soar into action next Thursday when they hit the road to play Gibraltar Carlson. The match begins at 4:30pm.
