The PCA Tennis Inter-Squad scrimmage, better known as the Purple / Gold match, ended in a 4 ½ to 4 ½ tie.
With two players absent, Head Coach Brett Manning and Assistant Coach Mike Costello filled in and played in the most competitive match of the day. With Manning teaming with Stephen Miera and Costello paired with Matt Pierce, their doubles match went the distance – a tie-breaker with Pierce and Costello pulling out a 7-6 win, with the tie-break score 10-7.
In singles matches, Caleb Cameron won a thriller over Tim Perumalla, 7-5. Chris Bilko downed Gloria Ravuri, 6-3. Evan Fischer got the best of Rebecca Nokku, 6-0 and the final match between Stephen Miera and Quinn McLaren (Coach Costello) was declared a tie, due to time constraints.
Also, in the singles, Rachel Costello topped Daniel Krivacs, 6-1 and Coach Manning, filling in for Justin Parks, beat Matt Pierce, 6-3.
In the other doubles matches, Gloria Ravuri and Rachel Costello beat Chris Bilko and Rebecca Nokku and Daniel Krivacs and Caleb Cameron downed Tim Perumalla and Evan Fischer, 6-2.
The Eagles will be heading to Ann Arbor Greenhills School tomorrow to participate in the MHSAA Regionals. Matches are set to begin at 8am.
