The 2018-2019 boys varsity basketball season opens up tomorrow in the Butler Gymnasium as they take on University Liggett at 7:00 pm which follows the JV game at 5:30 pm.
The team looks to earn a 3rd straight district title and trip to the Regional round of play this season. According to the players and coaches, the goal is always to play for a State Championship. “We always want to have the goal to be the best we can be and play for the ultimate prize..It does not make too much sense to limit our goals and efforts,” said Coach Windle of their goals for this year.
That will be a pretty tough task, especially with graduating a great group of Seniors from the 2018 class. Of the group, the team graduates All-State starter-Matt Malcolm, 1st Team All-Conference-Levi Yakuber, and other key starters in Max Okolo and Jayme Fadden. Gavin Goerke, Phillip Morby, Paul Pfister, and Alex Schrek were all lost to graduation as well. “All 8 guys were true competitors and leaders for our program. They have left an invaluable legacy of what it takes to be successful and we are so grateful for them.”
With all that has been lost to graduation, comes a lot of new faces to the program! 7 new to the Varsity team…8 if you include our new team manager.
