BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI (February 21, 2019) – PCA improved to 11-6 on the season with a hard-fought, 45-37 win over Bloomfield Christian. It was the fourth “special game” played by the Eagles on the season. They played in their own Homecoming and Senior Night games as well as Novi Christian’s Homecoming game. Tonight, BCS honored their seven seniors and PCA spoiled the party – again!
After one quarter, the Eagles held a 12-10 advantage. Isabel Mossel hit two three-pointers in the stanza as scoring was kept to a minimum due to the outstanding defense played by both teams.
The raucous Senior Night crowd gave the Defenders momentum throughout the second quarter as Bloomfield Christian pushed ahead, 23-22 at the half.
BCS capitalized on second chance points and hustled after loose balls. The first half was marked by scoring runs – PCA went ahead by 4 or 5 and then BCS came back to finally take the one-point lead.
Isabel Mossel led the Eagles with 8 points at the break. Anna Fernandez and Ariela Boboc each had six.
Britta Romisch paced Bloomfield Christian with 8 points and Center/Forward Abigail Williams posed some problems for PCA’s defense, as she slashed her way to 6 points.
The third quarter was all PCA. The Eagles upped the defensive effort and put the clamps on second chance attempts. Mossel, Fernandez and Boboc kept up their torrid shooting and the Purple and Gold outscored Bloomfield Christian, 18-5 in the quarter to take a 40-28 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Defenders did cut it to six and one point in the quarter, but free throws down the stretch by Mossell and Fernandez sealed the win for the Eagles.
