Boys Varsity Baseball · Eagles Rally Late to take Season Opener at Oakland Christian


The Eagles Varsity Baseball team traveled to Auburn Hills Tuesday to open their season at Oakland Christian.  The Lancers held the Eagles in check through 5 innings only allowing 4 base runners through 5 innings while building a 3-0 lead going into the top of the 6th.

 

In the 6th, Aaron Geisler led off with a walk and moved to 2nd on a wild pitch, Nathan Etnyre followed him with another walk and both scored on a single by Isaiah Stockman and a double by Jacob Weertz.  Liam Stein, pitch running for Zeke, then scored on a perfect squeeze by Gabe Emilio with Gabe beating it out for a single.  Weertz then scored on a Balk and at the end of the inning, the Eagles had taken a 4-3 lead.

 

In the Top of the 7th, singles by Etnyre, Stockman, Weertz, Mario Cassel, Geisler, walks to Emiolio and Joey Radabaugh, another single by Etnyre and a double by Norbie Fernandez scored 8 more runs for a 12-3 lead.

 

Norbie Fernandez, in relief of Isaiah Stockman closed out the game with 4 strikeouts in the last 2 innings for the win.

 

We take on Oakland again Thursday for our home opener.
