Eagles News · Plymouth Christian to Add 3 New Sports for 19-20 School Year

Plymouth Christian Academy is excited to announce the addition of three new sports for the 2019-2020 school year. It is the goal of the athletic department to continue to provide opportunities for all of our students as we continue to boost the student-athlete experience at PCA.

The decision to add these sports include a number of different factors. We establish interest from the students, determine if there would have a negative impact on the sports programs already established, and how it would effect the yearly budget.

Below is the list of sports that have been added for the new school year and the details about those sports.

Varsity Sideline Cheer (Fall):

The Varsity Competitive Cheer program has seen recent success since bring the program 4 years ago. As the team prepares for the winter season where they will compete for a conference championship in the history of the MIAC Conference, a decision was made to give an opportunity to the program to continue to have opportunity to improve in the Fall as well and primarily look to boost the spirit of our teams in the Fall. You will see this squad work with the Lutheran Westland cheer team, cheering on our Co-Op Football team on Friday nights this Fall! The girls will also be at big Fall events such as “Under the Lights” cheering on our other programs. Mrs. Katie Jones will continue to serve as the Head Coach of the team and the girls are already hard at work preparing for their upcoming seasons.

JV/Varsity Co-Op Wrestling (Winter):

We are excited to add to our cooperative partnership with Lutheran Westland High School for this upcoming school year! This fall will mark the 4th year as a partnership with the Football program and this upcoming school year. This year we will give our PCA students the opportunity to compete in wrestling as well. Students interested in joining the Co-Op Wrestling team will travel to LW for all practices and matches and have the opportunity to compete in the MHSAA tournament. Details will continue to come out as the winter season approaches. In the meantime, if you have any questions or interest in joining this program, please contact Matt Windle at Matt.Windle@plymouthchristian.org

Varsity Boys and Girls Bowling (Winter):

We are excited to announce the addition of the PCA Varsity Bowling for both Boys and Girls. Similar to how our Cross Country and Track & Field programs are run, these two separate teams will be head coaches by the same person. Practices and Matches will be held at Super Bowl in Canton and we are excited to look to be competitive right away as we enter the sport as an MHSAA sport. We will be starting the coaching search for this program soon. All questions and interests involving the sport and the coaching position can be directed to Matt Windle at Matt.Windle@plymouthchristian.org
