Boys Varsity Soccer · Joey Weertz Named August Athlete of the Month

Starting for the 2019-2020 school year, the Michigan Independent Athletic Conference has initiated an Athlete of the Month campaign. Each school has the opportunity to name an Athlete of the Month during the school year. Coaches will submit nominations and an athlete will be named based on individual performance on and off the field for that month.

You can find all of the athletes that have been named across the conference at http://miacsports.net/2019/09/05/miac-august-athletes-of-the-month/

Freshman Joey Weertz has been named as the Athlete of the Month for August. Joey was selected based on his impact in the 7 contests the Varsity soccer team had in the month of August.  According to Coach Baker, “Joey has had a strong start to his first season of high school soccer. He quickly became the first-choice defensive center midfielder after displaying impressive defensive prowess and consistent distribution early on. Joey will look to continue his control of the midfield as the season progresses.”
