MONROE, MI (September 10, 2019) – The PCA Co-ed tennis team went back to Monroe on Tuesday and once again returned with a victory. This time, the Purple and Gold downed Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central, 5-0 in a match played at Munson Park.
The short-handed Kestrels had to forfeit the #4 singles and the #3 and #4 doubles. The Eagles dominated in the official matches winning all five without losing a set.
Rachel Costello, playing in her second straight match at #1, overcame a slow start and a steady opponent to win 6-4, 6-1.
Daniel Krivacs at #2, won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. His steady groundstrokes consistently forced his SMCC opponent out of position, setting up easy volley winners.
#3, Caleb Cameron was pushed the entire match, especially the second set, but the sophomore prevailed, 6-2, 6-4.
The ever steady #1 doubles team of seniors, Gloria Ravuri and Chris Bilko played the longest match of the day, winning 6-1, 6-4. Most points seemed to have rallies of more than 10 groundstrokes for each side.
At #2 doubles, the super-sophs, Tim Perumalla and Evan Fischer won easily, 6-0, 6-0.
PCA fared well in the exhibition matches as well.
Freshman Isaac Demko won a close fought singles match, 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5.
