Eagles News · PCA Earns 10th Victory – Downs Oakland Christian

CANTON, MI (February 4, 2020) – The Lady Eagles upped their record to 10-3 on the year as they ran past Oakland Christian tonight, 48-13.

PCA was in control right from the start as they surged to a 15-0 1st quarter lead. Oakland Christian finally got on the scoreboard with :02 left in the first.

The Eagles were energetic on defense – they moved their feet and got their hands in the passing lanes and contested every dribble, pass and shot that Oakland had.

The Purple and Gold built on their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the visitors 12-4. PCA got solid efforts from their bench as well as their starters.

Anna Fernandez paced the Eagles with 13 at the half. Morganne Houk, Ariela Boboc and Rachel Costello each had 4 and Ella Godin chipped in with 2.

At the break, PCA held a 27-6 lead.

The Eagle defense limited the 3-point shooting of Oakland Christian tonight. The last time the two teams met, the Lancers cut into the PCA lead by hitting the three. Offensively, the Eagles pushed the ball in transition, had a solid presence inside as well as outside and went to the basket, not relying on the three-point shot.  The Eagles out rebounded the Lancers in the first half as well. PCA had eight second chance points from being aggressive on the offensive glass.

The rout was on in the third quarter. PCA got their fast break offense in gear and Morganne Houk heated up from distance – she had 15 points in the second half.

PCA led 45-8 after three quarters.

PCA pumped the brakes in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 48-13 MIAC Blue Division win.

The Eagles move to 10-3 on the season and 3-1 in the MIAC. Oakland Christian falls to 8-5 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC Blue.
