The Eagles JV baseball team went on the road today with the only 9 players we could find and came out on top of Catholic Central 2-1. Riley Brodhagen started and went 5 shutout innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 6. Brady White hurled the final 2 inning, collecting the win with an Eagles Rally in the top of the 7th. Joey Weertz led the way on offense with 2 singles and scoring the winning run. Evan Loiselle reached base 3 times with 2 walks and a hit batsman.
Down 1-0 in the top of the 7th, Dillon Morby led off the inning, reaching base on an error by the shortstop. After 2 quick outs, Dillon scored on a wild pitch, then Joey Weertz singled and stole 2nd, then moved over to 3rd when Kyle Moore was hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded, Brady White helped his own cause and delivered a line drive to right, plating Joey.
Brady then shut down the Shamrocks in order in the bottom of the 7th, notching the win for the Eagles. This was the first time in 665 days (yes, I did the math) that the Eagles played baseball and it felt great. Our next action is this Friday at 10am versus Novi High School and 1pm versus Troy-Athens. Come on out and cheer us on, but wear layers, its only going to be about 35 at game time!
