During the 2018-2019 school year, the PCA Athletic Department launched the “Athlete of the Season” award. Team MVP’s from each sport are automatically nominated for their leadership and individual performance. After each season is complete and all season and post-season accolades are handed out, PCA secondary teachers vote on each nominee. The winner has their picture posted in the Butler Gymnasium along with their favorite verse. The goal of the Athlete of the Season display is to celebrate our PCA athletes and allow them the opportunity to point their successes, talents, and passion back to God.
The most important aspect of a student athletes time at PCA is to glorify God with their passions and talents in their respective sports. The athletic stage is an opportunity for us to express the hard work we have put in and the talents that we have. As athletes and coaches, our performances is an opportunity to worship our amazing God and point others back to Him. The bigger the stage, the bigger the audience. We want to treat our successes, both as an individual and as a team, as opportunities to be kingdom builders.
The athletic program uses 1 Corinthians 10:31 as our theme verse. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” You may hear in our team huddle breakdowns, and social media hashtags as we celebrate success that whatever we do, we do #AllForHim.
