Multiple Teams · PCA Volleyball: Lady Eagles Set for State Championship Tomorrow!

It is a great day to be a PCA Eagle!

Starting with an amazing send-off by our student body and staff, the Varsity Girl’s Volleyball Team traveled to Battle Creek to face against the Hurons of Rogers City.

The girls came out strong and finished well defeating the Hurons in 4 sets (26-25, 25-15, 22-25, 25-22).

With the win the Eagles will face The Eagles of Fowler High School! Fowler defeated Munsing High School yesterday and come into tomorrow’s final ranked #6 in the State. Fowler also defeated a familiar opponent in Southfield Christian at the MHSAA State Quarter-Final.

Our Lady Eagles come into the game still ranked #1 overall as the look to defend their State Title from last year! We need all students, staff, parents, and fans to show up in support tomorrow!!

Multiple Teams · Pohl, Windle All State; Both Teams Excel at MIS

The whole team at the MHSAA State Final Meet with their fans!
The whole team at the MHSAA State Final Meet with their fans!

What a weekend for the girls and boys cross country teams at the State Championship Cross Country meet held at Michigan International Speedway! Luke Pohl led the way, finishing second overall with a time of 16:13. Seth Windle placed 10th overall with a time of 16:47. Hunter Torolski (18:12), Quinn McLaren (18:48), Nathan Sutrick (18:52), Eric Moore (19:39) and Caleb Godin (20:01) all ran extremely well. Not only did PCA have two runners in the top 10 for all of Division 4, but as a team had their best showing, finishing 9th in the State of Michigan. In fact, there was only 5 points separating the 5th place overall team and PCA! It was an extremely competitive race!

On the women’s side, Sienna Ruiter continued to lead PCA, finishing 57th overall with a season best time of 21:01. Emily Cameron (21:15), Nicole Reinhart (21:54), Sarah Reinhart (22:44), Joy Chamberlain (24:58), Eva Warmbier (25:22) and Isabel Mossel (28:18) all finished strong. The team finished 14th in the State and was definitely noticed as an up-and-coming team to contend with next year.

Multiple Teams · Eagles Win Districts! Next up, Regionals

By Sophomore Aidan (Yogi) Hing
Lady Eagles are now the 2017 District Champions and are ready to compete in the MHSAA Regional competition this upcoming week.
Their district foe, Rudolf Steiner,  put up a good fight on every serve. The lady Eagles did more and swept the match to win the District trophy.
Even though winning is great, ultimately it is about glorifying God in volleyball and in everything we do.  The Lady Eagles write “for Him” under their jersey sleeves every game to remind them who they are playing for.
When asked what “for Him” meant to the Lady Eagles,  Izzy Racho (11) said, “It reminds us that we’re playing for the glory of God and not just to win.  Everything we are doing on the court is for Him.”
Lady Eagle freshman Dariya Roi (9) is “honored and blessed to be part
of this team.  I am only a freshman and still get playing time.”
Being a freshman may be hard, but recovering from an injury is harder. Moriah Willis (12) broke her scaphoid  bone in her hand in March. It has taken until now for her to recover and return to the team and play at full strength.”It was hard to work my way back on the court, after my injury , but here we are playing for each other and ‘for Him’”.
Come and support your Lady Eagles as they face Camden-Frontier on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30 at Lansing Christian High School located at 3405 Belle Chase BlvdLansing, MI 48911.

Multiple Teams · GIRLS AND BOYS TEAMS HEADED TO STATES!!

For the first time in school history, BOTH the men’s and women’s cross country teams will be headed to the State Championship on Saturday, November 4th at Michigan International Speedway. It wasn’t an easy road for the Eagles – their regional championship was moved to Jackson and the competition was fierce to be among the top three teams to head to Brooklyn.

On the women’s side, PCA finished third, capturing the final spot as team qualifiers for States. Sienna Ruiter led the way for the ladies, finishing in 6th place overall. Following Sienna’s lead was Emily Cameron and Nicole Reinhart who finished 11th and 12th respectively. The top 15 finishers qualify individually for States so it was up to the rest of the team to finish strong to go as a team. Sarah Reinhart did just that as she recorded a personal best time of 22:19, finishing 23rd overall. It was neck and neck with Concord when Isabel Mossel came through the finish as the 5th place scorer for PCA, edging out two Concord runners to secure the team victory for PCA. In a beautiful show of sportsmanship, Eva Warmbier ran as a buddy to Joy Chamberlain, who had been in a serious car accident the week of Regionals and was running on bruised knees. According to Kristy Chamberlain, mother of Joy, Eva wouldn’t leave Joy’s side and encouraged her the last mile to the finish line.

On the men’s side, Luke Pohl (16:36) continued his dominance and finished in first place as Regional Champion. Seth Windle finished 4th overall, with a time of 17:07. With Pohl and Windle qualifying for States individually, it was left to the rest of the team to make sure the whole team would qualify for States. Hunter Torolski (21st), Quinn McLaren (24th) and Nathan Sutrick (26th and a personal best time of 18:41) did just that and the Eagles secured a second place Regional finish. Rounding out the Eagles were Eric Moore (19:05) and Caleb Godin (20:22) who made sure to keep ahead of the other schools vying for a team placement.

Right now, the women’s team is ranked 13th in the State and the men’s team is ranked 6th overall, with Luke Pohl ranked 4th and Seth Windle 25th. It will be very exciting to see what happens Saturday at Michigan International Speedway. The women will race at 9:30AM and the men will race at 10:50 AM. Tickets are $8. Come cheer on your Eagles!
